Knight, Gareth ガレス・ナイト 本名　Basil Wilby (1930-) ☆　「内光協会」系の魔術師。グロスターシャー、チェルトナムに所在するヘリオス・オーダーの主宰者にして魔術作家。独特のアーサー王的象徴主義で知られる。 　少年時代はこれといったエピソードはなし。１８歳にして音楽の道を志す。空軍勤務の傍らバンドを組み演奏活動を行うが、才能の限界に気付いてこの方面を諦める。たまたま接したダイアン・フォーチュンの著作に感動し、神秘方面に開眼。内光協会への参入して魔術を学ぶ。後年、協会が神秘主義団体に変貌してしまうと、1956年に独立してヘリオス・オーダー Helios Order を設立。独立系出版人、編集者、作家として世に出る一方、やはり協会から離れたW.E.バトラーと協同して「内光協会」流の通信教育を行う。 　ガレス・ナイトの特徴はその思想的スタンスの不確定性にある。1965年以降はフォーチュン流のカバラを発展させていたが、1974年に一時的にナイトの名を捨てて本名に立ち返り、キリスト教改宗者の立場からオカルトの危険を世に警告する。翌年、再びナイトを名乗ってカバラ本を発表。本人の自伝によれば、仕事を断らなかった結果、発注もとの編集にいいようにされたとのこと。続く80年代にはアーサー王象徴主義を全面に立ててオカルト国粋主義に移行。グラストンベリーを本拠地にする。 　その後、女神崇拝をテーマとする著作も発表。機を見るに敏な人物といえよう。
